Juan, a pure, youthful girl who has endured the toughest life experience during the war,appears in Fung's life. Like Bao, Juan becomes a spiritual harbor to Fung, who still struggles with unsevered feelings towards the free-spirited musician. No longer youthful, Fung and the musician’s feelings to Juan is less of a romantic love but more of a reminiscing adoration.
