I think I have a fling for Japanese family-style restaurants.

I like the cozy ambiance; like our server who would open the door for us when we walked down the stairs, her face beaming with a big smile; like the downbeat instrumentals; like the spacey interior that you could eat and chat and not worry about getting booted out; and above all else, the authentic home-cooking that made me come back and back again…

No unstatisfied stomach, no post-meal MSG thirst, everything was pure goodness >__<

That was why I was so surprised — or rather, shocked — when we went by yesterday and saw the windows ominously covered with newspapers and then this notice on their site:

Dear Customer
Our Downtown branch, “BAREFOOT KITCHEN” is closed. Since we opened in June 2008, we are grateful to the many customers, that have set foot in our restaurant. In the future, will be reborn as a new restaurant in another location, In the meantime, please visit our sister branches in Richmond, “ICHIRO JAPANESE RESTAURANT” & “TAKEYA SUSHI” to enjoy traditional Japanese meals.

弊社のDowntown店、Barefoot Kitchen は11月６日をもちまして、閉店させていただきました。

2008年6月の開店以来、多くのみなさまにご愛顧いただき、誠にありがとうございました。

今後は、別のロケーションに新しいレストランとして生まれ変わる予定ですが、それまでの間は、姉妹店でありますリッチモンドの、一朗亭、竹屋寿司をぜひご利用くださいませ。

就這樣忽然消失了我以後該怎麼辦啊!

還有好多好多我都還沒吃到啊!!

也有更多更多以後在別的地方就吃不到了啊!!

說好的明太子義大利麵呢?? 說好的鐵板 bull duck 呢? 說好的栗子蛋糕跟 greentea parfait 跟剉冰呢呢呢呢!! (崩潰) 既然說要回來要說到做到啊啊! (你哪位啊)

話說之前有介紹過、我很喜歡去吃的 Bonqula (另一家頗有家庭氣氛食物也超好吃的餐廳) 也毫無預警地倒了…怎麼辦我頓時迷失方向了…(喂)

((好啦我知道這篇離題超大而且應該算是有驚但沒有喜，但反正已經處於人生的迷惘中了也無所謂了啦 .__. (吐煙)

    我最愛的也是日式homestyle..更準確的說,應該是日式洋食>.<
    i'm so gonna try marulilu cafe someday..heard from friend that there's this Miura cafe at Howe/Davie,據說也好吃哦..but more like crepes etc.

    我之前有發過一篇 Ten Hachi 的也不錯唷,
    不過從你家去好像就有點遠
